CAIR-Chicago Conducts Outreach Session at DIC’s Sunday Brunch

CAIR-Chicago’s Legal Advisor Maaria Mozaffar, Law Clerk Azam Khan, and Civil Rights Intern Samina Sulemanjee conducted an outreach presentation at the Downtown Islamic Center (DIC) at their monthly Sunday Brunch. CAIR-Chicago worked with DIC’s Salman Azam to organize the presentation, which was the first of many such sessions. The Civil Rights Department of CAIR-Chicago has implemented a new outreach initiative aimed at better educating the community about the organization, the services it provides, and how the organization can be a valuable resource in defending the civil rights of Muslims.

The presentation introduced the Civil Rights Department’s casework and the process for handling complaints. After this successful presentation at DIC, the Civil Rights Department at CAIR-Chicago hopes to work with other organizations in the near future in order to make its services available to more people throughout the Chicagoland community.
