CAIR-Chicago Attorney Represents Muslim in Case Against Chicago Police

CAIR-Chicago Attorney Rima Kapitan represented a man in court appealing citations he received that resulted in the suspension of his chauffeur's license. The Muslim man was pulled over by police for a traffic stop, but was arrested and detained for several hours at the police station. While detained, officers asked the man, "What does your Qur'an say about speeding?" and asked him where he was from. When the man replied, "I am Somalian," an officer responded, "I hate Somalians."

At the hearing, the city's attorneys were granted extra time to respond to a motion filed by Rima Kapitan.
