Civil Rights Director Christina Abraham Delivers Lecture at DePaul University

CAIR-Chicago Civil Rights Director Christina Abraham delivered a lecture at a DePaul University multiculturalism seminar earlier this month. Abraham discussed the political climate in the United States against Arabs and Muslims post-911. Abraham taught students that the stereotypes against Arabs and Muslims in the United States pre-existed 911, but became a subject of mass consumption after the terrorist attacks. She argued that the prevailing perception is that Arabs and Muslims are inherently threatening, and must constantly prove their innocence to the rest of society. Abraham went on to say that this is the main reason that discriminatory actions and policies are carried out against them. About 25 students participated in the seminar.
