ACTION ALERT: Speak Up For Freedom of Speech Rights for University of Illinois Professor

URGENT: WRITE TO THE TRUSTEES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS BEFORE THURSDAY TO DEMAND REINSTATEMENT OF PROFESSOR STEVEN SALAITA The Board of Trustees at the University of Illinois will be meeting this Thursday (September 11), and Professor Steven Salaita’s case is likely to be on the agenda.

The decision of the chancellor of UIUC backed by the trustees and especially their use of “civility” to silence speech and solidarity work has broad consequences that go beyond the damage done to Professor Salaita and his family. This decision impacts due process and free speech rights for all students and faculty in educational institutions across the country.

Take a minute to email the Board of Trustees expressing your support for free speech rights before their meeting on Thursday. Make sure you mention any connection with the University (i.e. I have a son and daughter who are graduates). Here are their individual e-mail addresses:
