CAIR-Chicago seeking PILI fellowship applicants

The Civil Rights department is seeking two Public Interest Law Initiative fellows for the summer of 2015. The fellows must be 3Ls, and may find more information on how to apply on the PILI website here. The Public Interest Law Initiative fellowship program allows recent law graduates to gain 300 hours of experience during the summer before beginning their professional practice. The fellowship is a great opportunity to gain lawyering skills and expand your professional networks. PILI fellows serve legal institutions dealing with public interest and human rights issues. These fellowships are paid positions. CAIR-Chicago is one of 56 legal service organizations which offer positions for PILI fellows. At CAIR-Chicago, fellows will work with the Civil Rights department on several projects. More on a fellow’s role at CAIR-Chicago can be found here.

CAIR-Chicago boasts fellows who have graduated from a variety of prestigious institutions. Tawfiq Ali, CAIR-Chicago’s first PILI fellow, graduated from Harvard Law School in 2007. Fellow Munsoor Hussain graduated from Georgetown University Law Center and fellow Elisa Jillson graduated from the University of Chicago Law School. Our 2014 PILI Fellow, Hanaa Kaloti, graduated from Northwestern University Law School and now has begun her work as a Litigation Associate at Kirkland & Ellis.

Applications should be sent as soon as possible. Answers to several frequently asked questions can be found on the PILI FAQ page and any other information can be found on the PILI fellowships homepage.
