CAIR-Chicago Hosts Interfaith Event to Honor MLK

This Monday’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day brought together youth and educators from across Chicagoland at an event hosted at CAIR-Chicago’s Azima Center. The event, sponsored by The Children of Abraham Coalition with CAIR-Chicago, St. Viator High School, Jewish Council on Urban Affairs (JCUA), fostered interfaith dialogue between local Jews, Muslims, and Christians.

Participants discussed religious misconceptions, shared values, and mutual respect for faith and community leaders like the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Around forty people were in attendance and a crew from ABC 7 covered the event.

Following discussion, attendees split into groups and took up posts along State Street where they handed out flyers promoting interfaith peace and Dr. King’s legacy. The participants concluded with suggestions and encouragement on how to continue interfaith engagement, as well as promoting advocacy and mutual respect for all communities and their concerns.
