ISNA & The Mosque Cares Conventions Coverage

CAIR-Chicago participated in both the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and The Mosque Cares Conventions over labor day weekend, Sep 2-5, 2005.

CAIR-Chicago set up a full-time booth at The Mosque Cares convention through which it purported to reach out to Imam W.D. Mohammed ministries' constituents. Saturday, CAIR National Chairman, Parvez Ahmed, joined local CAIR representatives, Yaser Tabbara and Ahmed Rehab, for a special presentation to The Mosque Cares Annual Awards Dinner. The three men spoke to the 2,500 member crowd about CAIR's mission and vision. Subsequently, Parvez Ahmed presented Imam W.D. Mohammed with a leadership and services award for his great contributions to American Muslims. Imam Mohammed praised the men for their "intelligent work" and pledged to support the cause with everything that he has. View full Press Release.

At the ISNA convention, CAIR set up a booth shared by CAIR-Chicago that provided passers-by with educational material as well as updates on the organization's most recent projects. CAIR and CAIR-Chicago officials spoke and moderated several of the sessions offered by the convention organizers for the public. Full info.

Both conventions combined saw an estimated 65,000 Muslims participate making it one of the most important weekends of the year for Muslim American community interaction.
