CAIR-Chicago Designated as Community Partner by CPS Service Learning Program

CAIR-Chicago has been designated as a community partner by Chicago Public Schools, allowing High School students to complete their 20 hours of service learning requirement with our office. Outreach Coordinator Gerald Hankerson is excited to work closely with local teachers, and service learning administrators to build better relationships with area high school students. He adds that "For years, we've worked with local high schools and held workshops and programs focussing on civil rights advocacy. This new step forward will ensure a more innovative and collaborative relationship through which we can build a broader understanding of the socio-political issues facing the muslim American community and how CAIR takes on those issues. These are important topics for area high school students to be aware and knowledgable about, and this program will increase that awareness."
