"Welcome Home" Refugee Photo Exhibit

Opening and Reception, TODAY Friday Dec 8 @6pm

You are cordially invited to attend the opening reception of the Welcome Home Photo ExhibitWelcome Home showcases faces of Chicago's refugees as Executive bans and policies as well as anti-refugee rhetoric rage on. While Refugees are often in the news, it is often in the form of headlines, data reports, and political analysis; seldom is the personal human stories of refugees as individuals and families, just like ours, focused on.

Refugees who were photographed as well as members of the media will attend the opening reception. Pizza and refreshments will be served.

Come celebrate our own Chicago's refugees and meet the brave grandparents, parents, youth and children from the Congo, Burma, and Syria who are now are neighbors.

About the Photographer: Svetlana Rehab is a Chicago portrait photographer. She began her art career as a classically trained painter in Russia. Svetlana's photography seeks to capture the normalcy of subjects who are otherwise stigmatized and misunderstood.

Sponsors include: Northeastern Illinois University, CAIR-Chicago, Syrian Community Network, RefugeeOne, the Mayor's "One Chicago" initiative, and The Burma Taskforce. The exhibit is open through December 21.
