CAIR-Chicago Represents Muslim Man Filing Discrimination Charge with Illinois Department of Human Rights

CAIR-Chicago Civil Rights Coordinator Christina Abraham attended an interview with a Muslim client alleging a denial of public accommodation at a local restaurant. The charge of discrimination was filed with the Illinois Department of Human Rights (IDHR), and a fact finding conference has been set for November. The Muslim man was waiting in line to order for himself and his family when members of his family were accused of jumping the line. The man tried to explain that he was waiting in line on behalf of his family, and that he was paying for them, but the restaurant managers told him to leave and allowed other customers to ridicule the family’s religion and ancestry. CAIR-Chicago will continue to advocate on behalf of the man and his family regarding his denial of public accommodation at the restaurant.
