Attend Muslim Youth Symposium - THIS WEEKEND!

Attend the Muslim Youth Leadership Symposium (MYLS)

- This Saturday - RSVP NOW! -

The Muslim Youth Leadership Symposium of Chicago (MYLS-Chicago) initiative will host its eighth symposium this Saturday, September 24th at the CAIR-Chicago office from 9 AM to 7 PM.

The theme for the event, "Building Our Legacy: Commit to Activism", draws on the Muslim American community's outlook moving beyond a decade riffed with fear and uncertainty, and taking a personal and collective responsibility to be proactive and engaged in our society.

We're looking for students in grades 8-12 to join us in the pursuit to help shape a better America and strengthen the Muslim community.

Participants from any school can attend: public, parochial, independent, and private Muslim schools anywhere in Chicagoland. Students must be able to attend the entire program, and be genuinely interested in developing their leadership skills while gaining perspective of being Muslim Americans in the 21st century and connecting with like-minded peers.

The initiative envisions the following goals:

• To provide American Muslim youth with a proactive agenda for positive activism.

• To empower American Muslim youth to guide their communities from the margin to the mainstream.

• To foster a healthy American Muslim identity that fits comfortably within pluralistic American society while true to its faith values.
