Man Receives Citizenship After Four-Year Delay

A Muslim man participated in the oath ceremony for citizenship along with approximately 140 other individuals being naturalized. The man had been waiting over four years for a decision on his naturalization application, after having fulfilled all the necessary requirements for obtaining citizenship. USCIS told him that his application was pending due to FBI name checks. CAIR-Chicago filed a compliant on behalf of the man, asking the court to naturalize him. In response, USCIS expedited the man’s case and approved his application for naturalization. CAIR-Chicago congratulates our client on becoming a U.S. citizen.
