CAIR-Chicago Represents Muslim Man in Illinois Department of Human Rights Interview

CAIR-Chicago Civil Rights Coordinator Christina Abraham represented a Muslim man in an Illinois Department of Human Rights (IDHR) interview regarding a Fair Housing complaint that was filed against his Homeowner’s Association. The man filed the IDHR charge for discrimination after the Association continued to impose rules and threats for violating those rules. The Association did not impose these rules on other homeowners. The man amended the IDHR charge to include retaliation after a member of the Association Board of Directors publicly administered copies of the IDHR charge and publicly posed questions to the man regarding the charge during Board elections. The man was still elected on the Board, but has been marginalized ever since.

CAIR-Chicago continues to represent the man regarding his issue of discrimination against the Association.
