Fanatic, or terrorist?

sun timesIn response to the Chicago Sun-Times article: "Police nab jet hijacker in Mexico" I was surprised that your article on Jose Flores, who described himself as a Christian priest after hijacking a jetliner, does not call Flores a terrorist. Nor does the story identify Flores as a Christian, but rather as a “religious fanatic.” Considering the ease with which media connects Islam to acts of terrorism, one would expect to see Flores described as a “Christian terrorist.” In either case, blaming a religion for an act of terror is wrong.

All faiths have had their names abused by religious fanatics. I hope that media will begin to show the same amount of respect for Islam as other faiths, and not inadvertently blame a religion peacefully practiced by over a billion people for the acts of a few nut cases.
