Civil Rights Director Christina Abraham Presents "Know Your Rights" Seminar at ISNS

ISNSCAIR-Chicago Civil Rights Director Christina Abraham conducted a "Know Your Rights" session to members of the Islamic Society of the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago (ISNS) on Sunday, February 7. Abraham spoke to an audience of approximately 50 individuals about their rights when interacting with law enforcement, such as FBI interviews and questioning by Customs and Border Protection officers during travel. The event allowed audience members to pose questions about these important issues and gain answers and to growing concerns.

Some of the more general advice shared by Abraham included: do not talk to law enforcement without an attorney present, do not lie to any officer or government agents, and when questioned by agents its best to take down their contact information and tell them that your attorney will contact them.
