Executive Director Ahmed Rehab moderates event for Grand Mufti of Egypt, Sheikh Ali Gomaa

Visit www.aicusa.edu The American Islamic College held a private luncheon for the Grand Mufti of Egypt, Sheikh Ali Gomaa, and distinguished guests on July 5th, 2010, at the American Islamic College. The event began with a brief welcome and overview of the history and vision of the American Islamic College by Dr. Farid Muhammad, a member of the American Islamic College’s interim Executive Committee and Chairman of the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences at East-West University.

Ahmed Rehab, Executive Director of CAIR-Chicago, moderated the event and introduced the guest of honor, Sheikh Ali Gomaa, who gave a warm and insightful speech followed by a question and answer session. The discussion was rich, ranging from topics of homosexuality to American Muslims and politics. Guests enjoyed an intimate lunch and tour of the landmark facility which hosts a dormitory building of 65 rooms and a 1000-person capacity auditorium. Mr. Safaa Zarzour, Secretary General of ISNA, and Mr. Ahmed El-Hattab, Executive Director of ISNA Development Foundation, were also in attendance. An advocate for peace and dialogue, the Grand Mufti ended with prayers and blessings for the American Islamic College.
