On August 29th, 2006, one of the first complainants of CAIR-Chicago's Citizenship Delay Project took the oath of allegiance to the United States of America, finally becoming a U.S. citizen after waiting for over two years after taking his citizenship examination. Civil Rights Interns Ausaf Farooqi and Azam Khan visited Mr. Enaam Arnaout on Friday, July 21st at the Federal Prison in Oxford, Wisconsin in order to assist him with his civil rights claims. In the three hour visit, the two interns spoke with Arnaout about his case, as well as his former role as an activist in the Muslim community and his life in prison. Khan described Arnaout as "a charismatic guy," whom he had an enjoyable experience meeting. Even in his difficult circumstances, Arnaout is determined in his struggle to confront the injustices done to him.

CAIR-Chicago’s Volunteer Attorney Rima Kapitan went to court for matters involved in a racial profiling case. The case involves a taxi driver who was pulled over by the police. Upon pulling the driver over, officers then proceeded to take out their guns, cuff him, and take him in. He was detained for 7 hours and insulted profusely. His cab was towed and the officers would not tell the driver what the charges were against him.

One count of assault against a Muslim limo driver was dismissed after CAIR-Chicago attorneys Heena Musabji and Rima Kaptian filed a motion to drop charges against the driver.
