Ahmed Rehab to Keynote Muslim Education Center's (MEC) Community Dinner - 1/16/11
The MEC Masjid has invited Ahmed Rehab to speak at an event commemorating Martin Luther King Jr. and his "I Have A Dream" speech. The MEC Education Committee invited Rehab to their fourth seminar of a monthly educational series to talk about MLK and what the civil rights movement is today, 50 years later. Rehab's speech will be followed with a question and answer for further discussion.

Jewish-Muslim Text Study on "Youth and Social Change"
The Jewish-Muslim Community Building Initiative, presented by the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs and CAIR-Chicago, is holding a discussion and study of Jewish and Muslim texts in relation to youth and social change, in recognition of International Human Rights Day. The meeting will be hosted at the KnockBox Cafe, led by a rabbi and an imam from the Chicago area, and will feature discourse on the role of youth leadership in social progress.

The Illinois Coalition on Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR) is hosting a planning meeting for the upcoming Deportations 101 Conference. At this meeting, the ICIRR will provide logistical details, offer a forum for feedback on strategies and the conference curriculum, discuss the latest government policies and issues facing affected families, as well as a discussion of strategies to use the conference as an advocacy and organizing tool.
