Defending Rights Panel at CAIR-Chicago Tuesday, November 18th
Join CAIR-Chicago on Tuesday, November 18th, for Defending Rights, a program on the importance of protecting the rights of children detained in military courts, and the rights of U.S. Palestine human rights activists.
CAIR-Chicago Community Outreach Post Chicagoland ISIS Arrest
CAIR-Chicago recognized the need to address the recent arrest of a Chicagoland teenager accused of wanting to travel to join ISIS in its larger community repercussions. Over the past several weeks CAIR-Chicago has collaborated with communities across Chicagoland to foster dialogue about the many issues surrounding the incident ranging from countering extremist ideologies and ISIS specifically, FBI questioning, know your civil rights, online predators, Islamophobia and media issues.
Community Leader, Rasmea Odeh, Faces Trial Tuesday in Detroit Federal Court
Rasmea Odeh, 67, was arrested by agents of the Department of Homeland Security and charged with immigration fraud for allegedly “lying” on her citizenship application twenty years ago. Odeh is a Chicago Palestinian and respected Arab community organizer, haunted by a forty year old conviction in an Israeli military court. If found guilty, she could face up to ten years in federal prison, an immediate revocation of her citizenship, and deportation from the United States.

LOYOLA UNIVERSITY- Chicago students affiliated with the student group Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) will attend an administrative hearing scheduled this Thursday, October 30 to respond to allegations made against the group after Palestinian students lined up on September 9, 2014 to try to register for a Birthright Israel trip to highlight its discrimination against Palestinians.

This month CAIR launched Islamophobia.org, a website dedicated to documenting and exposing groups, as well as individuals, promoting Islamophobia in the United States.

Letter to the Sun-Times Re: ISIS in Chicago
Tuesday’s headline from the Chicago Sun-Times, "ISIS in Chicago", was not only sensational but inaccurate and misleading. A more accurate headline would have been: "A Chicagoan in ISIS?" (The added question mark underscoring that it is as of yet an allegation, not a finding).
