Fighting for His Rights from Behind Bars
Civil Rights Interns Ausaf Farooqi and Azam Khan visited Mr. Enaam Arnaout on Friday, July 21st at the Federal Prison in Oxford, Wisconsin in order to assist him with his civil rights claims. In the three hour visit, the two interns spoke with Arnaout about his case, as well as his former role as an activist in the Muslim community and his life in prison. Khan described Arnaout as "a charismatic guy," whom he had an enjoyable experience meeting. Even in his difficult circumstances, Arnaout is determined in his struggle to confront the injustices done to him.
Charges Withdrawn in Racial Profiling Case
CAIR-Chicago’s Volunteer Attorney Rima Kapitan went to court for matters involved in a racial profiling case. The case involves a taxi driver who was pulled over by the police. Upon pulling the driver over, officers then proceeded to take out their guns, cuff him, and take him in. He was detained for 7 hours and insulted profusely. His cab was towed and the officers would not tell the driver what the charges were against him.

Charge Dismissed in Police Misconduct case
One count of assault against a Muslim limo driver was dismissed after CAIR-Chicago attorneys Heena Musabji and Rima Kaptian filed a motion to drop charges against the driver.
Cafe Finjan: Muslim and Jewish Open Mic
Cafe Finjan is a series of interfaith arts exchanges, begun in 2004 by the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs (JCUA) as part of its Jewish-Muslim Community-Building Initiative post 9-11. The goal of the series is to establish points of contact and nurture a greater understanding between Jews and Muslims of Chicago by creating spaces for Jews, Muslims, and others of diverse backgrounds to come together and give voice to their identity and experience as part of a larger community.

As part of "A New Americans Initiative" Project, the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR), in cooperation with the Illinois Department of Human Services, hosted a celebration for National Citizenship Day at Little Village High School in Chicago. Thousands of people came out to support this initiative and began their citizenship application processes.
Court Approves CAIR-Chicago’s Sensitivity Training Program
The Bridgeview Courthouse accepted a proposal for a 40-hour sensitivity training and community service program with CAIR-Chicago as part of the sentence given to an 18 year old man charged with battery.
High School Student Gives Presentation on CAIR-Chicago Internship Experience
On Tuesday June 6th, CAIR-Chicago intern, Musab Siddiqui from North Shore Country Day School, (a preparatory high school founded in 1919 by a group of parents who wanted to provide their children with the quality of education found in eastern boarding schools) presented a heartfelt account of his experience as a CAIR-Chicago intern for his Senior Service Project.
CAIR-Chicago Rep. to Join Forum on Muslim-West Relations in Copenhagen, Denmark
CAIR-Chicago’s Communications Coordinator Sultan Muhammad is scheduled to participate in the second "Muslim Leaders of Tomorrow" forum in Copenhagen, Denmark, July 7 to July 9 alongside 100 young Muslims from 15 nations to discuss what they can do to improve Muslim-West relations. Muhammad says “It is without question humbling to have the opportunity to participate in such a defining event of our time wherein the usual is not suitable.”
