CAIR-Chicago Welcomes Warrant and Hate Crime Charges for Illinois Man Who Allegedly Threatened Middle Eastern Home Buyers, Real Estate Agent

(CHICAGO, IL, 10/22/26) — The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed the issuance of an arrest warrant and criminal charges—including three hate crimes—against a Wilmington, Illinois man who allegedly threatened to kill "Middle Eastern" home buyers and a real estate agent, if they purchased a home in his neighborhood.

According to court records and local reports, 42-year-old Chad Glover of Wilmington faces multiple criminal charges, stemming from threats directed at prospective Middle Eastern home buyers and a real estate professional.

In a statement, CAIR praised local law enforcement and prosecutors for pursuing appropriate charges, emphasizing that housing discrimination and bias-motivated threats pose a severe danger to community safety and must be met with swift accountability.

"Every family has the fundamental right to seek housing and live safely free from bigotry, intimidation, and violent threats," said CAIR-Chicago Executive Director Ahmed Rehab. "We welcome the swift issuance of an arrest warrant and hate crime charges in this case. Accountability is critical in sending a clear message that alleged bias-motivated harassment and threats targeting Middle Eastern and minority communities will not be tolerated."

CAIR-Chicago encourages anyone experiencing or witnessing bias or discrimination to report incidents immediately to its civil rights department at www.cairchicago.org/get-help.
