ACTION ALERT: Cancel John Kirby’s U. Chicago Appointment

The University of Chicago has announced the appointment of former Biden Administration National Security Spokesman John Kirby - a man who spent months denying and excusing Israel's genocide in Gaza - to a prestigious academic position.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, called on the University of Chicago to cancel its appointment of former Biden administration “Genocide Denier-in-Chief” National

CAIR is also calling on all Americans to participate in its easy-to-use, click-and-send action alert demanding that University President Paul Alivisatos and UChicago’s Institute of Politics Executive Director Zeenat Rahman cancel this disgraceful appointment immediately.

During Israel’s assault on Gaza, Kirby consistently ran cover for Israeli war crimes and denied Israel’s responsibility for genocide. In response to mass Palestinian civilian casualties, Kirby said that “war is messy” and said Palestinians should be able to “leave their homes,” effectively justifying ethnic cleansing. Kirby also called South Africa’s case at the UN’s top court accusing the Israeli government of genocide in Gaza “meritless.” After Israeli forces massacred World Central Kitchen aid workers, Kirby refused to admit that Israel’s actions were deliberate.
