CAIR-Chicago Joins Congresswoman Delia Ramirez in Standing United to Protect Local Families from Federal Attacks

On August 18th CAIR-Chicago joined Congresswoman Delia Ramirez and allies in Hermosa, Chicago for a special convening of faith leaders and organizers in the faith community. We were able to meet with other organizations who are aligned with our mission and work to better understand the unique needs of each community, and how stronger coalition building can help strengthen all Chicago communities.

CAIR-Chicago Executive Director Ahmed Rehab took a moment to speak on the new coalition we’re building, the Chicago United Families Coalition (CUFC), saying “Together we want to create another layer of support for these families here in Chicago against what we call forced disappearances- that’s what they are

The event was followed by a presser where we spoke to the media about the work we’re doing to advocate for muslims, near and far, as the genocide in Gaza has had a profound effect on our community in Chicago. And while we stand firmly against the genocide, we also make sure to cover our bases here at home where islamophobia is on the rise. CAIR-Chicago is also working to protect immigrants as discrimination against immigrants is unfortunately again becoming a part of the social fabric of America.
