Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with GoodShelf Project’s Top Reading Picks!

Hispanic Heritage Month isn’t over yet! ✨

Celebrate the histories, stories, and experiences that connect Hispanic and Muslim communities with a special reading list from CAIR-Chicago’s Goodshelf Project!

Our picks include:

📖 Nonfiction: Alianza Islamica: Spanish Harlem’s Islamic Odyssey by Juan Galvan and Rahim Ocasio — exploring the rise of Latino Muslims in Spanish Harlem during the civil rights era.

🌙 Fiction: Yo Soy Muslim by Mark Gonzales and Mehrdokht Amini — a beautiful celebration of Muslim, Latino, and Indigenous identities, family, and belonging.

🥟 Children’s: Eid Empanadas by Wendy Díaz and Uthman Guadalupe — a story about a young Latino Muslim embracing the Ramadan and Eid traditions that make his family unique.

Hispanic Heritage Month runs through October 15, so there’s still time to add one of these books to your reading list!
