Empower Your Community with Know Your Rights Trainings – Request a Speaker Today!
As part of CAIR-Chicago’s ongoing efforts to empower and educate our communities, our Legal Director Heena Musabji led a virtual Know Your Rights session on April 15, 2025 for 34 students at Roosevelt University. The training focused on educating students about their constitutional rights, particularly in the context of law enforcement encounters, and how to stay informed and protected. We anticipate additional KYR trainings at other universities in the coming months as interest and engagement continue to grow.
On April 19, 2025, CAIR-Chicago brought a KYR training to over 30 youth participants at Burhan Academy in Elgin during the MIST (Muslim Inter-Scholastic Tournament) competition. The session equipped students with the tools they need to understand their rights in various real-world scenarios, including interactions at schools, protests, and travel.
Upcoming Events:
April 30 – Virtual Training on Border Rights
In collaboration with the Muslim Civic Coalition and the Muslim Bar Association of Chicago, CAIR-Chicago will host a virtual KYR training featuring attorneys Kinza Khan and Sufyan Sohel. The discussion will address the unique challenges international travelers—particularly Muslims and marginalized groups—face at U.S. borders. Participants will learn how to protect their digital privacy, respond to detainment or questioning, and access resources for safety and support.
