(CHICAGO, 8/16/2012) — On Friday, August 17th, the Chicago office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Chicago), the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago, (CIOGC) and an interfaith and interethnic coalition of diverse community organizations will unite in protest against hate and Islamophobia by organizing a flashmob in downtown Chicago.

CAIR-Chicago Executive Director Ahmed Rehab delivered the keynote speech at the 2010 United Muslim Students Association (MSA) Dinner, an event that unites the four main Naperville-area high school MSAs.

The UNITY '08 Convention will be the largest gathering of journalists of color. Nearly 10,000 journalists and media executives will meet to discuss timely issues affecting journalism and the media industry.

On Saturday, July 26, the Chicago chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Chicago), in cooperation with New Islamic Directions, will co-sponsor a workshop for journalists, titled "Presumption of Guilt: Media Treatment and Coverage of Muslims in America," at the UNITY '08 convention.
