CAIR-Chicago asks its supporters to stand up for Comprehensive Immigration Reform! Urge your representatives to take a stand!

Jan 11, 2013 marks 11 years since US detention center at Guantanamo was opened. Over 700 men have been released while some remain detained despite being cleared for release.

CAIR-Chicago Outreach Coordinator Gerald Hankerson and six interns protested the human rights abuses in Syria at an Amnesty International rally and press conference on June 14.

CAIR-Chicago, the Arab-American Action Network (AAAN), Chicago Committee to Defend the Bill of Rights, Chicago Movement for Palestinian Rights (CMPR), among other local organizations are holding a rally this Saturday in Daley Plaza to urge the community to voice their opposition to policies influenced by fear, Islamophobia, and prejudice.

Come and join other Americans of conscience in opposing indefinite detention without a trial, defending immigrant rights, and stopping FBI Repression of anti-war activists.

On Thursday December 15th, 2011 - the 220th anniversary of the signing of the Bill of Rights into law - CAIR-Chicago’s deputy director Sufyan Sohel, along with members of the interfaith community, spoke at a rally in Federal Plaza in downtown Chicago to oppose new provisions introduced as part of the National Defense Authorization Act.

“We’re living in a world now where there is no room for totalitarianism, dictatorships and oppression,” said Christina Abraham, civil rights director for the Council of American-Islamic Relations in Chicago. “When we see these movements happening, we need to support them. We don’t give leeway to governments that violate human rights, like the Assad government is doing right now.”

This Sunday join thousands in downtown Chicago to rally in support of the Syrian people’s struggle for democracy and freedom. Since demonstrations in Syria began in March, it is estimated that nearly 1,500 people have been killed, 2,000 wounded, 20,000 imprisoned, and close to 1,000 forced disappearances.

Syria is witnessing the atrocities and the massacre of innocent civilians committed by the forces of the dictator. Human rights are being violated. Many Syrian cities are under constant attacks. Many have been killed. Help bring freedom to Syria.

Join CAIR-Chicago and other organizations as we participate in the New Americans Rally on Saturday, April 30th. This is an event that is taking place statewide and a part of the “One Nation, One Dream” Agenda.
