Traveling out of O’Hare or Midway but not sure what your rights are when leaving or entering the country? Whether you’re a citizen, a green card holder, or have a visa, traveling can be nerve-wracking with the increased crackdown on foreign nationals, like a new travel ban targeting 12 countries and placing travel restrictions on another seven.

According to Ahmed Rehab with the Council of American-Islamic Relations, people should take preventative actions if they must travel. That includes leaving behind copies of certain documents with someone in the U.S., or deleting anything from your phone that you don’t want authorities to obtain.
