Community Update: American Islamic Center’s Lawsuit Against Des Plaines Proceeding
AIC hopes to proceed with its lawsuit against Des Plaines, who imposed a significant burden on the Center’s religious exercise, as well as discriminating against the Center as a religious institution and based on its Muslim affiliation, the next hearing is set for 3/17/2014.
CAIR-Chicago Welcomes New Pentagon Policy on Religious Accommodation
The new rules will make it possible for Sikhs and members of other faiths to receive such waivers routinely, when possible. Orthodox Jewish service members will be allowed to wear yarmulkes while in uniform, and Muslim service members could wear beards and carry prayer beads.

The way this is being presented by the Obama administration, and covered in the media, distorts what is really happening, and the whole meaning of Guantanamo. The administration evades the fact that only 8 of the remaining 155 men at Guantanamo were ever charged with a crime, and that certainly the rest should never have been there at Guantanamo in the first place.
