CAIR-Chicago will host Elderhostel's Days of Discovery "Bridge To Islam" program, on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 and Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at the Orland Park Prayer Center. Elderhostel is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing extraordinary learning adventures for people 55 and over.

CAIR-Chicago hosted its first of two Elderhostel’s Days of Discovery “Building Bridges to Islam” programs at the Prayer Center of Orland Park (OPPC). Nearly 30 participants attended this perennial educational immersion event previously held in Des Plaines and Northbrook. The “Bridge to Islam” program provided participants with informative and interactive presentations, and included a tour of the mosque. Elderhostel, a non-profit organization, facilitated the event as a part of its program to provide extraordinary learning adventures for people 55 and over.

CAIR-Chicago Communications Coordinator, Amina Sharif, will be giving a presentation at a DePaul University class entitled "Multiculturalism and Democracy: Middle East Communities in the United States." The course focuses on issues of political socialization and identity.

CAIR-Chicago announced today that a District Court ruled for a corrections officer's discrimination case against the Cook County Sheriff's department to move to trial. U.S. District Judge Amy J. St. Eve denied Cook County's motion for summary judgment this week. (The court had also denied Cook County's motion to dismiss the case in 2008.)
