Southtown Star: Tinley woman assaulted at grocery store
Amal Abusumayah was paying for her groceries when she felt a sharp tug on her headscarf. When she looked at who had pulled her hijab, Abusumayah saw a woman who moments earlier had made a derogatory comment about Islam. Becky Schlikerman reports on a CAIR-Chicago client.
Muslim Woman Attacked for Wearing headscarf
CAIR-Chicago announced today that it has reached out to the FBI on behalf of a Muslim woman who was a victim of a hate crime and had her headscarf pulled at her local grocery store.“I expect Tinley Park police and federal investigators to thoroughly examine the incident and vindicate this woman. Racial and religious discrimination shall not be tolerated in our pluralistic society,” said Abraham.
